Guilford: Five Years of Change

Guilford
Five Years of Change
by Scott Hartley

Guilford book photo January 1989 marked the Fifth Anniversary of the joining of the Delaware & Hudson, the Boston & Maine, and the Maine Central railroads under the Guilford Transportation Industries flag. These five years have seen dramatic changes in operations and equipment on the three railroads, and they are all documented in Guilford: Five Years of Change. Author Scott Hartley, who has followed Guilford since its 1981 purchase of Maine Central, chronicles the GTI story in a concise, lively text.
Illustration, provided by 43 photographers, shows every bit of Guilford - from Maine to Buffalo, from Montreal to Virginia, and all points in between. This is an incredible look at Guilford's transition period. Rare Alcos, General Electric U-Boats, big EMD SD's, leased power, passenger trains, and much, much more, are shown in 225 outstanding COLOR photos. A generous selection of fine black and white rounds out this book's photography. Also included is a complete Guilford locomotive roster. Guilford book photo
